At Home Spa Date

Who doesn't love a spa experience? The dim lights... Relaxing sounds... The aroma that seems to be unique to a spa... I can feel myself relaxing even now as I visualize it.

I regularly go for facials to help combat my dry and acne prone skin. Until a few weeks ago though, James had never been. Afterwards though, let's just say he's as hooked as I am. Everyone needs a little self care and pampering right?

Last week, I talked about how we are making a conscious effort to bring date night back into our lives regularly. To help us stick to that goal during Covid-19, we decided to utilize one of our free at home dates and do a series of at home spa treatments on Saturday.

If you missed that post, you can find it here.

A quick word before I jump in:
I do not get paid in anyway if you use any of the links I provide here or anywhere else on my blog. These are products I use and trust in 100% and just want to share my personal favorites.

The first thing you will need to do for this date, is pick a couple of treatments you would like to recreate at home. We choose facials (my personal favorite), scalp massage and exfoliation, and a foot soak.

After you settle on what treatments you will be doing together, or alone self care is very important, you will want to set the mood. Turn out your lights and use candles for a softer glow, added bonus you can create a relaxing scent with the candles, and play a spa curated playlist. To keep it free we used this one from Pandora. You will also want to have some towels on hand.

Next you will want to make and gather everything you will need to do your spa treatments. Here is everything we used:

Steaming water in a bowl (add teabags or eucalyptus if you have)
Towel to cover your face and bowel while steaming (do this for 5-10 minutes)
YOUTHMUD by GlamGlow (or some form of exfoliation)
SUPERMUD by GlamGlow (a mask for whatever your primary skin concern may be; we both have acne prone skin so this is a lifesaver)
THIRSTYMUD by GlamGlow (or some sort of deep moisturizing treatment)

Brown Sugar Scalp Treatment

Brown sugar 1/4 of a cup mixed with 1/4 of a cup of olive oil
Massage on the scalp for several minutes
Allow to rest for 10 minutes

Peppermint and Lavender Foot Soak

Bathtub or a bowl that fits your feet comfortably
(This makes a multi use batch)
Epson salt 3/4 of a cup
Baking soda 1/4 of a cup
Peppermint tea (2 to 3 bags opened and poured in to the mixture)
Lavender oil (about 7 or 8 drops)

Now that you have everything together, plan out your order of treatments and relax.

We had so much fun doing this and it was so incredibly relaxing. It was pretty funny to compare how methodical I was at application versus James's free painting style and generous pouring of the foot soak. I promise you will have so much fun pampering each other and taking time to relax together.
